Empowering Young Women Through Hands-On Skills

Soap and Bead Craft Projects Shine in April

Date: 5th April 2025

At Care for a Girl Uganda Limited (CFAGU Ltd), we are committed to creating opportunities for young women to build meaningful lives through hands-on, practical skills that foster financial independence and self-confidence. The month of April 2025 was another exciting step forward in this journey, with the continuation of our liquid soap-making project and the introduction of a new bead craft initiative.

This month’s focus was all about economic empowerment enabling girls to turn creativity and learned skills into tangible sources of income. Following the enthusiasm and success of the soap making training in March, the girls remained engaged throughout April, producing and selling their own liquid soap in their communities. With each sale, they not only earned income but also strengthened their sense of capability and pride in their work.

But April brought even more to celebrate. We launched a new bead crafting project, designed to introduce the girls to the art of creating handmade bracelets and necklaces. These sessions were filled with curiosity, laughter, and creativity, as participants learned how to design and string beads into beautiful, wearable pieces. With guidance from our trainers, the girls quickly began producing their first items and even managed to sell a few within the month!

Key Highlights from April’s Activities:

  • Continued Soap Production and Community Sales

The girls built on their soap making knowledge, successfully producing and marketing their own liquid soap. These efforts not only generated income but also built customer relationships and business confidence.

  • Launch of the Bead Craft Project

Participants were introduced to the basics of jewelry-making, learning how to craft elegant beaded bracelets and necklaces using accessible materials.

  • First Bead Craft Sales

Several girls made and sold their first pieces of jewelry, an exciting milestone that demonstrated the potential of beadwork as a sustainable income-generating activity.

  • Creativity, Collaboration, and Confidence

The training sessions created a vibrant space for collaboration and peer learning. The girls worked together, supported one another, and celebrated each small success along the way.

Both projects soap and bead crafting represent more than just skill-building. They are about restoring dignity, nurturing entrepreneurship, and creating hope for a brighter future. These initiatives are part of our larger mission to equip vulnerable young women with practical tools that lead to lasting transformation in their lives and communities.

We are inspired every day by the passion and resilience of the girls we work with. As they begin to see their skills turn into income, we also see their dreams growing bigger. At CFAGU, we will continue to walk alongside them offering support, mentorship, and new opportunities for growth.

We’re excited for what’s ahead as we expand our Skills Development Initiative, and we thank our CEO, Staff members, trainers, and community supporters for making this journey possible.

Together, we are creating a future where every girl has the power to thrive.

Empowering Girls Through Skills: Soap-Making & Bead Craft Projects

Dear Partners and Friends,

We’re excited to share the latest progress from Care for a Girl Uganda Limited (CFAGU Ltd). In April 2025, our programs continued to equip young women with life-changing skills through practical, income-generating activities. This month, we focused on building their entrepreneurial abilities through two hands-on projects: liquid soap-making and bead crafting.

Ongoing Success: Soap-Making Project

Following the successful launch in March, the girls remained actively involved in the soap-making project. Under supervision, they produced and sold their own liquid soap in the local community—earning their first income and boosting their business confidence.

New Initiative: Bead Craft Training

In an exciting addition to our Skills Development Initiative, we introduced bead crafting—teaching girls how to create beautiful bracelets and necklaces. They embraced the training with creativity and enthusiasm. By the end of April, a few girls had already sold their first handmade pieces, proving this new skill’s potential for economic growth.

Key Achievements:

Girls produced and sold liquid soap, gaining practical business experience.

Successfully launched bead jewelry-making sessions.

Several girls earned income from their crafts, sparking future entrepreneurial ideas.

The trainings enhanced confidence, collaboration, and creativity across the group.

These activities continue to shape our vision of empowering girls to become self-reliant, respected, and productive members of their communities. The energy and joy we witnessed throughout April are testaments to the power of skills-based learning and mentorship.

Thank you for standing with us. Your continued support helps us reach more girls, build more futures, and unlock the full potential of young women across Uganda.

With gratitude,

The CFAGU Team
